LA21 Membership

Some Wirral schools joining Wirral LA21 Network will have already benefited from free visits by our staff to talk about such things as Fairtrade, recycling and energy efficiency; some schools have been involved in projects such as Gardens in Schools.

New members will be given a welcome pack containing handy local contacts and links on recycling, energy, waste, Fairtrade, horticulture, as well as information about events, the quarterly newsletter, and the new web forum (see below).

Joining Wirral LA21 Network is a way for schools to show their support for the efforts we and they are making to cut Wirrals carbon footprint, and live more sustainably. The membership fee is more than justified by the access to expertise, visits and projects that it brings.

Schools Forum

The forum will - as long as schools visit it and use it! - grow into a handy place to find out how other Wirral schools are dealing with the challenges of becoming more environmentally friendly, swap ideas, share information and generally avoid re-inventing wheels.

The public will not be able to post on the forum - all registrations will be validated to make sure they are linked to schools. Anyone registering should also email janet@la21.net to say that they are registering, and the username they have chosen. The registration will then be validated and they will be able to post.

You can find the forum at www.wirralsquirrel.proboards83.com

Email janet@la21.net to register your school.

Fairtrade Schools

LA21 Network also have a Fairtrade Schools website which:
  • provides a guide to the Fairtrade Schools Scheme run by the Fairtrade Foundation
  • explains what support Wirral LA21 Network can offer in the process
  • helps with resources, a fair trade directory and useful website links
  • give guidances on introducing Fairtrade into school life for teachers and other education providers
